Berlin, Germany (ADV) – A Strategic Seminar to the attention of African diplomats, organized by the Association for Free Research and International Cooperation (AFRIC), was held in Berlin on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, witnessed the pan-African news agency, African Daily Voice (ADV).

According to its organizers, some fiteen high diplomats from Africa were invited to the venue for exchanging experiences and feedbacks on elections in the continent.

The African Think Tank known for its notoriety within African decision makers, on the occasion of this event discussed two important recent elections : Madagascar and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

For nearly two hours, Afric drew positive and negative lessons from the work accomplished during the successful democratic alternation in these two African countries.

The main purpose of the exercise of the day is to put the audience at the same level of information.

In the context of the presidential, legislative and national elections in the DRC in December 2018, Afric sent a team to monitor and conduct an objective and impartial assessment of the electoral process.

The organization did the same in Madagascar in November 2018. Always in compliance with the national laws in force.

In order to achieve its objectives, Afric has had a series of exchanges and meetings with all stakeholders in the electoral process in Madagascar and the DRC. During the polls, the Think Tank deployed its teams to dozens of sites, both in urban and rural areas.

Afric notes above all that despite the differences between the political actors these polls went well overall despite some tensions related to the context. For example, one could have feared the worst in the DRC, where the burning of the central warehouse of the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) and the resulting technical challenge caused the postponement of these elections to the 30th.
December.

In this country, for health and security reasons, the CENI postponed the holding of elections in the constituencies of Beni and Butembo in North Kivu and Yumbi in Mai-Ndombe.

Finally, Afric officials announced to the participants in April 2019, still in Berlin, a two-day international conference focused on the challenges of Africa by 2040.
