NEWSROOM (ADV) – Thousands of Central Africans descended Monday in the streets of the capital Bangui to demand that the UN lift the arms embargo on their country, local sources told ADV.
These protesters are unhappy because the government forces, in restructuring, do not have significant armaments for their mission to protect the civilian population, because of the embargo imposed by the UN.
In protets also, many businesses and administration kept their doors closed.
The lifting of the arms embargo is expected to be discussed by the UN on 31 January.
