Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADV) – Zambian High Commissioner to Kenya, Brenda Muntemba-Sichilembe died Wednesday in Nairobi following injuries she sustained from a car accident three weeks ago, ADV learned here.

Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau said the diplomat died while undergoing treatment in a Nairobi hospital.

Ms Mutemba, 49, was involved in a road accident on February 26 at Lukenya on Mombasa Road, when her Toyota Prado rammed head-on with an oncoming trailer.

Kenya’s Daily Nation newspaper reported that she was accompanied by Botswana’s ambassador to Kenya Duke Lephoko.

The two diplomats were returning to the capital Nairobi when the collision happened.

The pair was admitted to Machakos Level 5 Hospital before Ms Mutenmba was referred to Nairobi and admitted to the Nairobi Hospital’s ICU after she developed internal bleeding.

The source did not, however, mention about the funeral arrangement for the deceased diplomat.
