NEWSROOM (ADV) –

Prof. Brahim Fassi Fihri, the President of Morocco’s Amadeus Institute has been spotlighted by the Italian Diplomatic Academy (IDA), for his efforts in boosting African integration, sources told ADV on Sunday.

The Moroccan elite received the recognization recently in New York on the sidelines of the conference on “The Challenges of the African Union: Building a Strong Continental Integration.”

Addressing the august gathering, Prof. Fihri explained that it was due to Kingdom of Morocco’s long-standing ambition and efforts to boost political and economic cooperation in Africa that the country is increasingly been seen as a model of South-South Cooperation.

The erudite professor said that the Kingdom of Morocco attained the all-time high acclaim over the recent years when the country returned to the African Union.

He said that all-time high distinction was further bolstered by the recent visits of the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, to several African countries and eventually gaining more credence in subregional organizations in sub-Saharan Africa.

Morocco ranked in 2018, the first investor in West Africa, and second largest investor in the continent, Fassi Fihri said.

Delving further on the issue of African integration,Prof. Fassi Fihri recalled that the year 2018 was a diplomatic milestone for the Kingdom of Morocco for becoming a signatory to the African Free Trade Area Agreement.

Prof. Fihri finally expressed cautious optimism that the year 2019 will be the year of ratification of this international instrument.
