Tanzania’s Mwakinyo named top boxer in Africa

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (ADV) – Tanzanian professional boxer, Hassan Mwakinyo has been named number one boxer in Africa in the super-welter division.

Mwakinyo was recently selected as the top man out of 115 professional boxers from different countries in the continent.

He scored 114 points to beat the 114 other professional boxers in the African continent.

The top boxer mentioned to the media that being number one in the continent’s ranking is not an easy task as comes with its own challenges.

He further highlighted that he needs to maintain his present status.

“I am very happy to be at the top, but also I am facing challenges to maintain it and I must absolutely stay captivated.”

According to a boxing website which is dedicated to holding records of professional boxers, Tanzania is deemed to dominate the ranking with 16 professional boxers in the ranking.

Another Tanzanian professional boxer, Maono Ally is ranked eighth with 17 points.

Tanzanian professional boxers who have been ranked, but do not have any points are Saidi Hamdani who has been placed 78th, Nassib Msafiri (86th), Omari Abdallah (87th), Tumaini Salum (88th), Selemani Hamidu ( 98th) and Mlekwa Jumanne who has been placed in 99th.
