NEWSROOM (ADV) – With preferential benefits, Saudi Arabia has just released a credit worth 500 million dollars (about 1,500 million dinars) in favour of the Tunisian state budget, it was reported Wednesday from the Ministry Tunisian Finance.

According to the same source, said credit was signed during the visit to Saudi Arabia, from January 12 to 14 current Tunisian Minister of Finance, Ridha Chalghoum.

“During his meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Mohamed Al-jadaan, the Tunisian minister discussed the instruments likely to raise Tunisian-Saudi financial cooperation at an upper level,” reads an official statement.

During his stay in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Chalghoum met with a number of Saudi economic and financial decision-makers, including the Deputy Chairman of the Saudi Fund for Development, Youssef Al Bassam.

The two officials, said the same statement, discussed the support provided to the Fund’s financing and development loans to Tunisia in various areas of common interest.

The visit of the Tunisian Minister of Finance to Saudi Arabia is part of the follow-up of the results of the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Tunisia (late November) and the visit of Prime Minister Youssef Chahed to Riyadh (from December 12 to 15).
