Boom, as Burundi fetes first African nations soccer qualification

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADV) – Burundi is under the international soccer spotlight for the country’s soccer team’s qualifying dint for the first time to the continent’s leading football tournament.

That historic moment and event sent the country celebrating all night long, sources told ADV on Sunday.

The qualifier came on Saturday when the East African nation drew 1-1 with Gabon to finish second behind Mali in Group C. The lone goal for Burundi was pumped in by Cedric Amissi in the 76th minute.

Burundi joins Uganda and Kenya in Egypt later this year for the tournament.
