JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (ADV) – The Otjiwarongo Clothing Production Project, a new sewing project has been launched in Otjiwarongo, Namibia.

Otjiwarongo constituency Councillor Julius Neumbo said his office generated about N$130 000 for the project last year and this amount has been used to start the project.

“This is commendable, and if all of us can support it, I am sure many people will survive from this project,” he said.

Neumbo was speaking at the official opening event of the project at the Namibia Development Corporation (NDC) business park recently.

Neumbo said the money that was generated last year has been used to buy eight sewing machines, materials and other equipment.

The project has already started manufacturing school uniforms for local schools earlier this month. And five sets of uniforms have already been sold to pupils from local schools.

Neumbo has urged those involved in the project to work hard, manufacture quality products, and offer decent customer care to all clients placing orders.

Otjiwarongo Clothing Production Project Chairperson, Batseba Ndjoze, said the project already looks promising, and the group that works there has demonstrated commitment and dedication to work without being paid.

“We started to manufacture school uniforms last week Wednesday, and we have a lot of orders still piling up,” she said.

A group of 10 women Otjiwarongo are currently working on this project. They are set to manufacture uniforms for pupils from the Rogate Primary School, Otjiwarongo Senior Secondary School, Spes Bona Primary School and the Monica Geingos Junior Secondary School.
