Namibia set to host Int’l Conference on Africa’s water, hydropower development

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (ADV) – Namibia is set to host the Int’l conference on Africa’s water, hydropower development.

In statement, the event organisers, Aqua Media International, said the three-day event’s discussion will be preceded by training workshops and seminars.

“The event will be an ideal opportunity to promote Namibian and African expertise in the field of hydropower and water resources development, and for interaction with international delegates,” said the organisers.

The conference, dubbed “Africa 2019 – Water Storage and Hydropower Development for Africa, is organised by Aqua Media International, publisher of the International Journal on Hydropower and Dams with readers in 180 countries around the world.

It will be hosted at the Safari Court Congress Centre in Namibia’s capital, Windhoek on 2 to 4 April. The conference is aimed at discussing water storage and hydropower development in Africa.

The Namibian Ministries of Agriculture and of Mines and Energy, and Namwater and NamPower, are expected to participate in the conference. High level utility representatives from other parts of the world are also expected to participate.

About 650 international delegates from about 50 countries are set to discuss issues of particular relevance to the African region, including technical, financial, environmental and social issues.

The event will be organised in partnership with the International Commission on Large Dams, with support from the African Union, United Nations, International Energy Agency, World Bank and Africa Development Bank, among others.
