Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADV) – Ghana’s elite soccer club, Asante Kotoko has moved to the group stage of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) tournament following a 2-1 win against Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya.

The two sides played a 0-0 draw in Nairobi, Kenya last weekend.

This weekend, however, the Ghanaian side took the bull by the horns when Fatawu Safui sparked a glowing splash right inside the net in 17th minute of the match played at the Baba Yala stadium in Kumasi.

Then came the equaliser through Katila Omoto in the 30th minute.

The second goal difference for Kotoko came when the skipper Amos Frimpong pasted a penalty after Yacouba Songne was fouled in the box.

The winners of the 2018–19 CAF Champions League will earn the right to play against the winners of the 2018–19 CAF Confederation Cup in the 2019 CAF Super Cup.

Espérance de Tunis are the defending champions.
