Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADV) – Sierra Leone’s new government is working out modalities with Britain to extradite ex-immigration chief, Mr Alpha Kholifa Koroma sources confirmed to ADV on Sunday.

The spokesman of Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission Patrick Sandi explained that Mr Koroma was among about a dozen of senior former government officials wanted on corruption charges.

Mr Kolifa Koroma who is on bail in the UK in connection with money- laundering charges is wanted by the Sierra Leone government for illegally issuing passports to unnamed persons apparently of non-Sierra Leonean nationalities.

Mr Vandi sounded up beat that Britain will extradit Koroma thanks to an extradition agreement between the two countries.

Sierra Leone and Britain have an extradition agreement dating back to 24 June 1935.

“We are in touch with the agency and we are working on the necessary modalities for him to come to Sierra Leone and answer to charges and the other aspects will be addressed later,” Sandi said.

Mr Koroma lived and worked in the UK before he was appointed by former President Ernest Bai Koroma whose former Finance and minister of foreign affairs had also been engaged in falsifying documents.
