NEWSROOM (ADV) – President Faustin Archange Touadera awarded Sergei Lobanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Central African Republic, the Commander’s Tie in the order of Central African recognition. The event took place on Thursday, February 7 in Bangui to mark the end of his stay in the country.
The Russian diplomat has been accredited since 2011 in the Central African Republic. His stay coincided with the military-political crises that the CAR has been experiencing since 2012. His presence alongside the Central African authorities during the difficult times to date testifies to the undeniable evidence of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Central African Republic.
In this context, and to testify the recognition of the Central African people to the Russian diplomat Sergei Lobanova after the 8 years of service on Central African soil, President Touadéra awarded Sergei Lobanov the tie of commander in the order of Central African recognition.
“Mr. Sergei Lobanov had the chance to witness the return to constitutional order in 2016 following the democratic election of President Touadéra. The Russian presence in Central African soil during these difficult times has allowed us to embark on a new stage of very promising bilateral cooperation between the CAR and Russia,” said the Central African presidential press.
According to the Russian diplomat, this new step has materialized by the assistance of Russian instructors alongside the Central African authorities for the restructuring of the Internal Security Forces and the Central African Armed Forces. Sergei Lobanov did not fail to congratulate the Central African authorities for the political dialogue of Khartoum, which led to the signing of a peace agreement in Bangui.
The Central African presidency notes that Ambassador Lobanov’s success has been to strengthen bilateral cooperation between his country and CAR in the humanitarian and economic field.
On January 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Vladimir Titorenko ambassador to the Central African Republic to replace Sergei Lobanov, who has been in Bangui for eight years.
