NEWSROOM (ADV) – The annual meetings of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the year 2019 will be held in Tunisia, said Friday Zied Ladhaari, Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation.

Speaking in plenary discussing his department’s draft budget for 2019, the minister said the EBRD’s annual meeting is part of a business forum for the South and South Africa east of the Mediterranean.

Since September 2012, the volume of EBRD investments in Tunisia has reached approximately € 71 million mobilized for the implementation of nearly 33 projects (according to data published on the bank’s website).

Support for regional development in Tunisia, which became a member of this institution in 2012, is a priority for the bank which opened in October 2016 a second office in Sfax.

Responding to the speeches of the deputies, Ladhaari recalled that Tunisia won the bet of organizing the most important regional and international meetings, with regard to the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) last April, with the participation of 60 ministers and central bank governors.

It should be recalled that the EBRD recently granted a € 1.1 million loan to Elec Recycling Tunisia “, a company specializing in the collection and recycling of non-hazardous industrial waste.

This agreement is part of a Value Chain and Competitiveness Program for Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia. This is the second project supported by this program in Tunisia.
