Casablanca, Morocco (ADV) – The Moroccan Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that Gabon’s President Ali Bongo Ondimba will receive treatment in a hospital in Morocco’s capital Rabat.

According to a statement from the ministry, “this decision comes in accordance with the desire of President Ali Bongo in an agreement with the constitutional institutions of the Republic of Gabon, in line with the opinion of doctors’ treating.”

Bongo was hospitalized in Saudi Arabia last month after suffering a stroke.

In a post on her Facebook page, his wife Sylvia Bongo said that her husband’s health had improved significantly and that he would travel to Rabat to continue treatment.

The Moroccan Foreign Ministry concluded that Morocco and Gabon have strong relations of friendship and solidarity based on the deep and historical ties of brotherhood between the peoples and leaders of the two countries.
