NEWSROOM (ADV) –The Ethiopian authorities are continuing their efforts to facilitate movement in their countries. Last Wednesday, the Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) signed five road projects with three Chinese companies, namely China Railway Bureau 21 Company Limited, China State Construction Engineering Corporation and China Communications Construction Company. These projects involve the construction of 342.2-kilometer-long roads with an estimated total cost of $ 305 million.

According to ERA Director General Habtamu Tegegne, who was speaking at the signing ceremony in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, these projects will meet the expectations of communities in beneficiary communities whose socio-economic activity is severely impacted by poor road conditions. “These road projects will meet the long-standing demands of these communities. They will also facilitate transport, and will generally benefit all of Ethiopia, “said the official.

For his part, Wei Qiangyu, deputy general manager of the UNFCCC branch office in East Africa, said his company will be in charge of building two of the five roads with strict quality control and agreed deadlines. “The priorities in the execution of this project will be a strict quality and timely delivery,” said Wei Qiangyu before adding that “full attention will be given to the proper management of environmental controls and the satisfaction of our social responsibilities by integrating greater involvement of local professionals and focusing on knowledge transfer “.
