NEWSROOM (ADV) – A high-level conference on the sustainable blue economy will be held from 26 to 28 November 2018 in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, attracting more than 6,000 participants to examine ways to benefit the human race.
The conference, will serve as a forum to promote global discussions on the sustainable development of the blue economy.
Placed around the theme “The Blue Economy and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, the conference will focus on new technologies and innovation for oceans, seas, lakes and rivers and the challenges they pose, resources and the enormous opportunities they present for humanity.
In addition to the two pillars of sustainability, climate change and pollution control and production, accelerated economic growth, employment and poverty reduction, the conference will discuss a number of sub-themes, including: transport and global connectivity, employment, job creation and poverty eradication, cities, tourism and the blue economy, energy, mineral resources and sustainable development, management and maintenance of marine life, conservation and sustainable economic activity “and” action for climate, agriculture and oceans “.
Kenya had recently announced that it had received a contribution of 215,000 euros (about 24.9 million shillings) from the European Union as a contribution towards the financing of this conference.
