Tunisia ink agreement with Paris for the lending of 6.9 million dollars

NEWSROOM (ADV) – A financing agreement worth 6 million euros (about 6.9 million U.S. dollars) was inked between the French Development Agency (AFD) and Tunisia, Tunisian Ministry of Investment, Development and International Cooperation confirmed on Tuesday.

The deal covers the financing of the Regeneration of Ancient Centers Program (PRCA), co-financed by the Tunisian government, the European Investment Bank and the AFD.

The goal of the deal is to reinforce the development in old urban cities, their rehabilitation, in addition to economic and social integration.

Tunisian government has planned an investment of 14 million dollars dedicated to carrying out regeneration operations of the old urban centers as part of a five-year plan from 2016 to 2020.

“The PRCA will contribute to a significant transformation of the concerned cities, by improving quality of life, preserving architectural and heritage features, and increasing tourism attraction,” the ministry added.
