Casablanca (ADV) – Only a few days after announcing the end of Ebola outbreak, the health ministry of the Democratic Republic of Congo confirms 4 new cases of the deadly virus.
The DRC’s health ministry has confirmed 4 new Ebola cases in northeastern North Kivu province. Heatl Minister Oly Illunga has stated that there was no indication these cases were linked to the country’s previous Ebola outbreak, which killed 33 people.
“Although we did not expect to face a tenth epidemic so early, the detection of the virus is an indicator of the proper functioning of the surveillance system,” Health Minister Oly Ilunga declared.
Health ministry has reported that local travel restrictions were being implemented, and that a team of 12 experts will arrive in Beni in order to set up a response operation.
