Polive have reported an attack on several taxi drivers who have been shot dead. Gunmen opened fire on a munibus carrying members of an association dedicated to taxi drivers. The victims were coming back from a funeral of a colleague of theirs, before the vehicule was subject to gunfires in KwaZulu-Natal province, on Saturday morning. There has always been a certain rivalry between groups of minibus taxis over dominance on profitable routes, which has often led to cases of extreme violence. It is worth recalling that in May , taxi violence has resulted to the killing of ten people in Cape Town.

“We understand they were from the Gauteng taxi association. There has been a lot of taxi violence in the area but we are still investigating who the perpetrators were,” police spokesman Jay Naicker declared.
