Accra, Ghana (ADV) – Ghana and the international community have finally laid the former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Atta Annan to rest in Accra.
The world event followed three days of state funeral ceremonies that were attended by millions of people from all spectrums of life.
Noble peace prize-winning Kofi was buried under the watchful eyes of his second wife Nane and children Ama, Kojo and Nina.
He will forever be remembered as both a National and World Hero and as an ‘extraordinary human being’ for many.
The songs of opera singer Barbara Hendricks, a UN refugee council goodwill ambassador sang Christian prayer songs at the ceremony.
The presidents of Ethiopia, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Namibia, Zimbabwe as well as the Angolan vice-president ; the Niger Premier and the former presidents of Germany and Mauritius, the incumbent UN Secretary-Genera, the African Union chief, as well as Princess Beatrix, the former queen of the Netherlands, and her daughter-in-law Princess Mabel, who were close friends watched Kofi going to his final abode.
