South Africa to launch National Action Plan to combat racism, xenophobia and related intolerance

Johannesburg, South Africa (ADV) – The South African Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, John Jeffery is set to lead a discussion to launch the National Action Plan to Combat Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance (NAP), which has now been approved by Cabinet, African Daily Voice has learnt.

According to the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DJCD), the event is a culmination of an extensive process of the development of the NAP which included a widespread consultation phase with various stakeholders, leading up to the document’s approval by Cabinet on 27 February 2019.

“With the involvement of various stakeholders and delegates from civil society including representatives from the media, discussions are expected to also delve into how the NAP will assist the nation to promote and achieve the right to equality while combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance,” reads the statement by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) on behalf of DJCD.
